March Notes

Just a few notes I wanted to record now that March is nearly over:

A funny thing Cooper said this week:

Coop was pretending that David was working at Starbucks from whom he ordered coffee and cake pops.  Then Cooper told me it was my turn.  I said, "So it's my turn to be the barista?"  Cooper replied, "Yes, and Daddy is the baris-man."
The twins...
A funny thing Penny did this week:

This morning as I nursed Ellie, Penny sat on the couch next to me and nursed and burped her beloved baby doll, complete with lifted shirt and all. Afterwards the exclaimed, "Ellie!  That was a big burp!" (Her baby doll used to be named "pink baby" but her name has been changed to Ellie.)
Isn't she lovely?
A funny thing Ellie did this week:

She rolled over!  (For the first time!) Then she proceeded to get mad because she was on her stomach and couldn't get back!

Ellie on her SECOND visit to Chuck E. Cheese...guess that is part of the gig of being a baby that runs around with preschoolers.

Three Months Old!

Ellie is three months old today! Every month older she turns is credulous to me. We are enjoying her so much I have to ask, "Why does this have to go so fast?"  I am happy to report we STILL have quite the good baby on our hands.  It's as if she knows she is supposed to be easy-going so as to complement her crazy siblings.

At three months Ellie:
  • weighs 13.5 lbs and is 23 1/4 inches long. (I thought she was going through a growth spurt!)
  • continues to eat roughly every 3 hours during the day and once in the middle of the night.  Reflux and congestion still plague us though she is so good-tempered, it doesn't seem to bother her much.
  • smiles ALL THE TIME!  It is so easy to make her smile, and Cooper and Penny love to try and extract one.  A lot of the time she accompanies her smiles with a gurgly cooing sound that seems like a laugh to me.
  • knows her name!  The surest way to get her smiling is to say, "Ellie!"
  • has added the "ga," "ha," and "ya" sounds to her repertoire of sounds she can make.
  • enjoyed a visit from Becky, Ryan and Grayson Egger
This play mat is exhausting!
Smiling big for Mom!

A Happy St. Patrick's Day in 2014

Yesterday we celebrated Ellie's first St. Patrick's Day!  We enjoyed a traditional dinner of corned beef and cabbage, prepared by our Irish friend Libby at her house.  The meal was delicious, the weather pleasant, and the company entertaining.  The day prompted me to look back on previous St. Patrick's celebrations...the venue hasn't changed but our family has!  This day is just as good a day as any to recognize how lucky we are to have our family, our friends, our health, and our life as a party of five.

The feast...soooo good!
Cooper amused himself with his favorite poolside activity (besides actual swimming of course)...running laps around the pool.
Ellie and Ma-Mas.  (Germans look good in green too!)
Penny and Ellie watch "The Voice" and wind down at the end of the evening.

Life Between Cold Fronts

After weeks and weeks of cold and wet weather, we experienced nearly two weeks of some warmth!  It was such a relief to get our stir-crazy selves OUTSIDE, and we knew we should take advantage before the weather got bad again.

Wheeee!
Cooper and Daddy run off some stir-crazies.
Daddy's office building had an electrical fire, so he has had to work from home for several weeks.  Cooper and Penny LOVED him being home so much.
Ellie likes to go for walks in the stroller! (As long as you don't stop.)
Kids and dogs all enjoyed some lake time.
We even got some pool time!
No one was more thrilled for pool time than Cooper!
And just for fun...bare baby feet!
And just like that, it's cold again!  Here's to a Texas winter...may the weather switch back in a day, or better yet, make way for Spring instead!
